About UsFrom racers to newbies, we all just enjoy getting some time on skinny planks of wood and using our own might to explore nature. Whether you want to learn to classic or skate, race or play, or learn to shoot rifles at the same time (see Biathlon section in the Information tab), there is something for you.
And thanks to funding from the DOC, UNLIMITED FREE RENTALS AND LESSONS! So pop in to Headcorders™ and grab shki gear, then come and spend an afternoon at Oak Hill and the Golf Course out skiing, because there's no better way to enjoy a beautiful winter day in Hanover. See you there! |
WHO WE ARE
--- OUR HISTORY📖 |
A man, myth, and legend named Matt Stanton ('15) had a dream to go cross country skiing more often with friends and have the school help fund it. This dream was realized in 2015 when he started the Club Nordic team that still exists and thrives today. Without Matt, we might all have been skiing alone or not even had a ride to Oak Hill to do so. For this, we are ever grateful to him. Thanks, DJ Matt Stanton.
Today, the racing and recreational aspects of club nordic are going strong, with practices almost every day in the winter, some weekend races, and drylands spread out over the rest of the year. There is a place for people who want to learn how to ski, but also for people who want to continue to race competitively (or learn to race competitively). In 2020, we sent our first 2 skiers ever to the USCSA national championship. COVID unfortunately canceled racing in 2021, but in 2022 we had great results at the various regional races, with several natty qualifiers (even if finals week may have gotten in the way of attending...). We had another great winter in 2023 with more full-moon s'more skis and topper racing (and dancing) qualifying another fleet of club nordies to nats. We said goodbye to Nat before the 2024 season, but hope to gnarf ice cream and penguin slide down hills just the same! |
